Someone sent me this poem by Hans Stolp, Dutchman, pastor and author of many books. Maybe you know it, maybe you don't. I love it so much that I made a translation for my Portuguese and English followers.
It is always an anchor for me and especially in troubled times, because know: only love is able to bring healing to the earth and to humanity.
The Song of LoveÂ
Love teaches us to look with our hearts and not with our heads.
She can be moved by what she reads on the other person's face.
Love does not think in labels, but has an open eye for the uniqueness of each person.
Love listens behind the words and hears what is actually in the other person's heart.
It masters the art of silence so as not to hurt the other.
It is also silent because it does not want to take away the mistakes that he or she needs as a life lesson.
True love does not desire to possess the other person, but rather lets her or him be free.
Love is opening your heart and daring to be vulnerable.
Those who do so, will be touched by the light on a face or by a child sitting on his father's shoulders.
This is how true love weaves threads
of connection from heart to heart.
Love does not judge, but is humble and reserved.
Therefore, it never chooses ruthless honesty, but takes into account what the other person's heart can handle
and needs at that moment.
True love therefore expresses
what the other person needs, and not what we ourselves are so keen to say.
Love is not so much giving
and giving again.Â
It knows that the highest gift is to allow the other person into your heart.
More than anything else, the other above all needs our attention and an open heart that envelops the other with respect and warmth.
Love also knows how important it is to love yourself: whoever does not love himself, cannot love another either.
Love knows how to set boundaries
and to say no when necessary in order to stay with yourself.
It is therefore able to look with respect and with wonder at itself and at its own walk of life.Â
True love is born in our hearts.
It arises from our higher self, and is therefore unconditional and selfless.
The love that springs from our ego, on the other hand, is self-centred and self-focused, more so than on another.
True love constantly asks us to to seek the way out of our ego to our higher self, because only then can it unfold in us to its true nature.
Love makes us beautiful.
It precedes us after our death and takes us to our true home.
The intrinsic value of a human being lies in the power of his or her love.
Therefore, entrust yourself to love.
Open your heart to her, and share it with whoever wants to receive it.
And know: only love is capable to bring healing to the earth and to humanity.
Only love.
